About Kirsten Castle

In Pamplona, I shadowed critical care nurses and anesthesia nurses at Clinica Universidad de Navarra. In the critical care unit, we discussed the use of ECMO in the United States vs. in Spain. In the operating room, I observed the anesthesia nurses monitor patient care during cases such as; endoscopic thoracic sympathectomy, knee replacement, spinal decompression, and a pediatric sedation for imaging.

In Barcelona, I shadowed the international unit at Hospital HM Nou Delfos, where I gained a unique perspective as a foreigner observing how local providers cared for international patients. I also shadowed anesthesiology at Hospital Quirónsalud Barcelona,  where I observed a ligament transection, penile enlargement, and monsplasty.
