Basic Hemodynamics

Intra Aortic BalLoon Pump (IABP)

Pa catheter (Swan-Ganz)

A central location to dump all of my hemodynamic statistics and parameters.

In my sixth week, I created a slide deck on PA Catheters. I wanted to provide an in-depth look at this hemodynamic monitoring device. Click on the image for a direct link to the deck.

Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO)

My first IABP patient was nearly 30 years old with non-sustained runs of VTach who refused to sit still. This patient was found up and walking in their room, yes - with the IABP in place, the day before my assignment.

My first ECMO case was an emergent cannulation transferred from OSH, where this pt suffered status asthmaticus and had been treated with isoflurane to no avail. Their Ph was 7, and CO2 was unbelievably high.
